11 Oct 2026 Read update The Casino Control (Prescribed Casino Chips) Regulations 2026, commenced 21 September 2026, newly classify electronic credits as casino chips. This regulatory reclassification brings electronic credit instruments used within casino premises under the same regulatory treatment previously applied to physical casino chips, changing how such instruments are handled for compliance and anti-cheating purposes. The regulations commenced alongside the broader second-tranche amendments to the Casino Control (Amendment) Act 2024, which also newly criminalised device-based recording of non-card-game play patterns, a change with a bearing on how in-casino value instruments and gaming equipment are monitored.

4 Oct 2026 Read update The Casino Control (Prescribed Casino Chips) Regulations 2026, in force since 21 September 2026, prescribe electronic credits as casino chips, allowing a patron to draw virtual credits directly from a cashless gaming account or e-wallet at tables or gaming machines rather than relying solely on physical chips. GRA has stated it has no intention of allowing cryptocurrency to be used as a chip instrument for casino gambling, citing money-laundering risk, drawing a clear regulatory line between fiat-anchored cashless infrastructure and crypto-asset settlement within the casino channel. This is the first prescribed non-physical wagering instrument in Singapore's casino framework and sets the payment-rail boundary within which any cashless gaming technology supplier must operate.
